SUPERVISOR’S MEETING
January 31 2002
The Jackson Township Supervisors held their regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the municipal building. Members present were David Bracken, Dowey Croyle, Bob Stephens, Dave Hirko and George Gvozdich. The meeting was called to order by David Bracken, Chairman, with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Public Comments:
William Michaels - Appointing of Zoning Officer, Appointing Local
Agency Member & Alternate,
Appointing of George Burkey as a Consultant.
Betty Lou Shoup - Water freezing on road at top of Singer Hill.
Linda Lesko - Getting local calling to 472 & 471 phone
exchanges.
Genia Rutledge - Suggested having public comments at end of
township meeting.
Judy Mullen - Inquired about purchasing ground on Turkey Path
Road.
John Deyarmin - Zoning Ordinance, Appointing of George Burkey as
a Consultant.
Steve Szekeresh - Zoning of property he owns on Route 22.
Janet Reese - Questioning correspondence being kept on file at
Twp. Municipal Building.
Don Bishop - Putting paint lines on road.
William Michaels - Suggesting Twp. Go to State Surplus for Twp.
machinery purchase.
Phyllis Weimer - Inquired on procedure to purchase ground from
Township.
Rodney Paul - Question on practice of hiring Twp. Road Department
employees.
Clair Michaels - Commenting on road that wasn't opened when there
was a bad snow storm.
Business:
Motion Croyle, second Bracken to appointed Dave Hirko as
Secretary-Treasurer at $12.00 per hour plus hospitalization,
pension and one week vacation after 6 months. Vote - Croyle &
Bracken - yes, Stephens - no

Motion Croyle, Second Bracken, to approve the minutes of the
previous meeting, vote three yes

Motion Croyle, second Stephens to reject only bid received from
Auto Wholesalers of Hollidaysburg for Jackson Twp. truck being
sold. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Bracken to pay Cambria County Commissions for Conemaugh Stormwater Resolution 08-01 Zoning Permit Fees. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Stephens to set maximum Township Supervisor hours worked at 24 per week unless in case of emergency. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Bracken to accept Police Union Agreement. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Bracken to adopt Police Union Pension Resolution - 01/02. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Stephens, second Croyle to appoint Harry Baker as Twp. Zoning Officer. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Stephens to appoint Dowey Croyle as Local Agency Member. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Stephens to appoint Dave Hirko as Local Agency Member Alternate. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Stephens to approve transfer of $36,090 from the Capital Reserve Fund; $3020.61 for recreation, picnic table and waterline - $625.00 for boxes for new truck - $492.00 for court reporting during zoning hearings, $13,216.70 for legal fees for lawsuits (zoning) - $3282.70 for weight limit studies - $453.59 for website work - $15,000 for fire company budgeted grant. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Stephens to approve bills from December 21, 2001 thru January 31, 2002 - General Fund - $112,853.00; Senior Center Fund - $2425.50; and Highway Aid Fund - $3012.93. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Croyle, second Stephens to approve employee time sheets for January. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Stephens, second Croyle to have Township books audited by an independent auditor for period beginning January 1, 2001 thru January 31, 2002. Solicitor Gvozdich suggested that the Township request proposals from local independent accounting firms. Vote - 3 yes
Motion Stephens to repeal Ordinance 118 (Zoning) effective January 31, 2002. Motion died from lack of a second. No vote.
Motion Stephens, second Croyle to send George Burkey a letter of commendation for his service to Jackson Township. Vote - 3 yes
Bob Stephens made comments encouraging women in the township to become more active and submit resumes for any future position openings on Township boards or position vacancies.
This concluded the business. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 by motion Bracken, second Croyle. Vote - 3 yes
