The Jackson Township Supervisors held their regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Township Municipal Building. Members present were Supervisors Dave Bracken, Bruce Baker and John Wallet along with Secretary-Treasurer / Manager Dave Hirko and Solicitor Bill Barbin. The meeting was called to order by Bruce Baker, Chairman with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Township Police Report
The August, 2008 Police Report submitted by Police Chief Bob Fatula was presented. The figures for August, 2008 were as follows: 911 Calls dispatched to Police: 363, Reportable Part I Crimes: 14 broken down as follows: Larceny-12 and Burglaries-2. Reportable Part II Crimes: 27 broken down as follows: Receiving Stolen Property-8, DUI (Driving While Under the Influence)-4, Drugs-2, Vandalism-2, Disorderly Conduct-1, Public Drunkenness-1, Sex Offenses-1 and all others-8. Calls Resulting in Cases: 25, Total Arrestees: 13, Total Suspects: 1, Total Victims: 17, DUI Arrests: 4, Traffic Citations: 70, Non-Traffic Citations: 4, Total Warnings: 0.

Manager Hirko
said, we received a letter from The Home Nursing Agency. . . they’re a non-profit outfit and they are requesting a donation of $350.00. Last year they provided 479 visits to children and adults in Jackson Township. Last year we gave them $300.00 but they’re saying prices have gone up and they’re requesting $350.00 this year.

Wallet, second Bracken to approve subdivision of William & Connie Grove. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken to authorize Township Manager to place advertisement to appoint Barnes, Saly & Company, Certified Public Accountants to perform the 2008 Audit of Township Records in lieu of the Township Auditors. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Bracken, second Wallet to accept contract proposed by Corporate Care Services to continue to perform drug and alcohol testing services for Jackson Township. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Bracken, second Wallet to approve contribution of $350.00 to Home Nursing Agency. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken on transferring $ 53,925.16 from the Capital Reserve Fund to the General Fund: $21,963.81 to New Enterprise Stone & Lime for seal coating projects, $7,193.49 to Luther P. Miller for fuel & heating oil, $6,139.04 to Quaker Sales for asphalt, $5,764.82 to Naugle Insurance for October installment, $4,206.00 to Fi-Hoff Concrete Products for drainage culverts, $3,000.00 to Hegemann & Wray Engineering for work on Fords Corner Sewage Project, $1,725.00 to Richard Sutter & Associates for planning & consulting work, $1,458.00 to L. B. Water Company for drainage pipe, $1,000.00 to Miners Community Food Pantry for contribution, $875.00 to David Murphy Real Estate for land appraisal services and $600.00 to the Jackson Twp. Motion Wallet, second Bracken on approving the time sheets from August 24, 2008 through September 6, 2008 and September 7, 2008 through September 20, 2008. Vote-3 yes.

Chairman Baker
announced, the Board of Supervisors next regularly scheduled meetings will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 8:00 AM and Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 5:30 pm at the Jackson Township Municipal Building. The Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company will host an Open House at the Fire Hall on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 6 - 9 pm. There will be Fire Department tours and a chance to meet the firemen, check out the new truck and learn about fire fighting. Kids will be able to tour the smoke trailer or get a free fire truck ride. In addition there will be free refreshments and 911 house ID numbers. Everyone is encouraged to come out and show your support for the Fire Company. The Jackson Township Annual Halloween Parade sponsored by the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company will be held in Vinco on Sunday, October 26th at 2:00 pm. Parade line-up begins at 1:00 p.m. at Griffith Avenue & Rose Branch Street. Treat tickets are available by contacting the Fire Hall at 322-3155. Trick or Treat Night will take place in Jackson Township on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm. East Taylor Township will also hold their Trick or Treat Night the same date and time. Free reflective Trick or Treat bags are available at the Municipal Building, Water Authority, Sewer Authority, Fire Hall, Police Station and Senior Center. Anyone wishing to participate in Trick or Treat Night and welcome Trick or Treaters should leave their porch light on. Free treats will also be available at the Municipal Building from 6 to 8 pm on that evening.
