The Jackson Township Supervisors held their regular meeting at 8:00 a.m. at the Jackson Township Senior Center. Members present were Supervisors David Bracken, Bob Stephens and Bruce Baker along with Secretary-Treasurer / Manager Dave Hirko and Solicitor Bill Barbin. The meeting was called to order by David Bracken, Chairman, with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Board Roll Call: was taken with all three Supervisors present.
Public Comments Concerning Agenda Items:
Motion Baker, second Bracken to hire Melanie Kline as a Full-Time Policeman at the rate of $12.00 per hour with the same terms and conditions as Chief Fatulaís contract. Bracken said officer Klineís wages would amount to $24,960 per year plus hospitalization and pension totaling about $7,500 a year. He added that at this time our Township needs this and that it was the Supervisors responsibility to provide adequate Police Department, Fire & Ambulance protection. Vote-Bracken & Baker-yes, Stephens-abstained due to a possible conflict of interest.
Motion Stephens, second Baker to hire Jason Ponczek as a Part-Time Policeman at the rate of $8.50 per hour. Bob Benedict asked if any of the police officers were local and said that it was important for the them to know the area. He added that most people not from the area donít know how bad the mountain is. He said when there is an accident, they havenít been putting a police or fire person on each side and that isnít good. A vote was then taken. Vote-3 yes.
Motion Stephens, second Baker to hire David Pilot as a Part-Time Policeman at the rate of $8.50 per hour. Vote-3 yes.
Motion Stephens, second Baker to hire Scott Zelek as a Part-Time Policeman at the rate of $8.50 per hour. Vote-3 yes.
Other New Business:
Chairman Bracken announced that the next Supervisors Meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 7:00 pm at the Jackson Township Senior Center.
Motion Baker, second Stephens to adjourn at 8:10 am. Vote-3 yes.
