SUPERVISORíS MEETING
December 18, 2008

The Jackson Township Supervisors held their regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Township Municipal Building. Members present were Supervisors Dave Bracken, Bruce Baker and John Wallet along with Secretary-Treasurer / Manager Dave Hirko. Solicitor Bill Barbin was not present due to a prior commitment. The meeting was called to order by Bruce Baker, Chairman with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Board Roll Call was taken with all three Supervisors present.

Public Comments Concerning Agenda Items:
Steve Yurasek said, yes. . that $1700. that youíre giving Sutter. . .is there a documented bill with that or is that is Christmas bonus? Chairman Baker replied, thereís a documented bill. Yurasek continued, itís actually documented what he did for that money? Baker answered, yes.

The November, 2008 Police Report submitted by Police Chief Bob Fatula was presented. The figures for November, 2008 were as follows: 911 Calls dispatched to Police: 263 Reportable Part I Crimes: 4 broken down as follows: Larceny-3 and Burglaries-1. Reportable Part II Crimes: 35 broken down as follows: DUI (Driving While Under the Influence)-14, Liquor Violations-7, Disorderly Conduct-2, Receiving Stolen Property-2, Family Offenses-1, Fraud-1, Public Drunkenness-1 and all others-7. Calls Resulting in Cases: 25, Total Arrestees: 18, Total Suspects: 2, Total Victims: 8, DUI Arrests: 12, Traffic Citations: 10, Non-Traffic Citations: 12, Total Warnings: 1.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken to approve subdivision of Richard & Penny Tronzo. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken to approve labor agreement between Teamsters Local Union 110 and Jackson Township. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Bracken, second Wallet to hire Dan Schrader as a Part-Time Police Officer for Jackson Township. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken to hire Jeff Thomas as a Part-Time Police Officer for Jackson Township. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken to adopt Right-to-Know Policy for Jackson Township. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Bracken, second Wallet on transferring $ 28,086.41 from the Capital Reserve Fund to the General Fund: $6,000.00 to Hegemann & Wray Engineers for work done on Fords Corner Sewage & Swigle Mountain Water Projects, $4,760.75 to P. Joseph Lehman Engineers for work done on Mitchell Park Phase I Project, $4,545.58 to Luther P. Miller for fuel & heating oil, $4,109.08 to Smorto, Persio, Webb & McGill for Zoning Hearing Board legal expenses, $3,800.00 to John Bahorik for fireworks at Heritage Festival, $2,146.00 to H.A. Thompson for Treasurer's Bond Renewal , $1,725.00 to Richard Sutter & Associates for planning & consulting services and $1,000.00 to Nanty Glo Public Library for contribution. Vote-3 yes.

Motion Wallet, second Bracken on approving the time sheets from November 16, 2008 through November 29, 2008 and November 30, 2008 through December 13, 2008. Vote-3 yes.

Public Comments:
Ed Westrick asked, what property is that for Wenturine? Chairman Baker responded, itís property weíre looking to purchase to do the land trade with the State for the property up on 22 for the business park. Clair Michaels asked, where are you planning on getting land off the State up there . . on 22 up there if I might ask? Baker said, this propertyís in East Wheatfield Township. Michaels said, no . .whereís the property youíre tryin to get off the State Game Commission? Baker said, itís the DCNR State Forest. . itís not Gamelands. Michaels said, Iím tryin to find out. . where is it located? Baker replied, itís behind Terrill Boringís old place. . . you know where Pete used to live? Michaels answered, yes. . .oh. . on the right hand side there. Baker replied, yes. Michaels said, and how many acres is that might I ask? Baker replied, 96.

Announcements:
Chairman Baker
announced, The Board of Supervisors Annual Reorganization Meeting will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The Board of Supervisors next regularly scheduled meetings will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 8:00 AM and Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Jackson Township Municipal Building.
