JACKSON TOWNSHIP REORGANIZES FOR 2003
The Jackson Township Board of Supervisors held their annual reorganization meeting on Monday, January 6, 2003. Here is a summary of the meeting:
Dave Bracken was reappointed Chairman with Bruce Baker appointed as Vice-Chairman for the coming year.
Dave Hirko was reappointed as Secretary-Treasurer.
Dave Bracken & Bruce Baker were reappointed as Roadmasters.
Bill Barbin was appointed as Township Solicitor for 2003 replacing George Gvozdich.
Lehman Engineers were appointed as the Township Engineer replacing Paul Rizzo & Associates.
Barry Rouzer was reappointed Vacancy Board Chairman.
Harry Baker was reappointed Zoning Officer.
Berkheimer Associates was retained as the tax collector for the Earned Income & Occupational Priviledge Taxes.
First National Bank of PA, Ameriserv Bank and PLIGIT were retained as Township depositories.
Supervisors Monthly Meetings were set to be held the last Thursday of each month with the exception of November 20th and December 18th.
The Tax Structore for 2003 was set as follows: 7 mill Real Estate, 1 Mill Fire Hydrant, 1/2 Mill Rescue Service, 1/2% Earned Income Tax, 1/2% Real Estate Transfer Tax, $5.00 Per Capita Tax and $5.00
Occupational Privlege Tax. Jackson Township was the only municipality in Cambria County to LOWER taxes for 2003. Real Estate Taxes from 8 to 7 mills at the December 19th, 2002 meeting by a 2 to 1 vote with Supervisors Bracken & Baker voting in favor of the tax reduction.
Rob Piper was reappointed to the Jackson Township Water Authority with a 5 year term.
George Burkey was reappointed to the Jackson Township / East Taylor Township Sewer Authoriy for a 5 year term.
Bruce Baker was reappointed to the Jackson Township Planning Commission for a 4 year term.
Rick Fetzer was reappointed to the Jackson Township Zoning Hearing Board for an additional 3 year term.
Alfred George was reappointed to the Jackson Township Recreation Commission for a 5 year term.
SARGEANT FROM STATE POLICE TO SPEAK AT JANUARY 30th SUPERVISORS MEETING
Sargeant Bock, Station Commander from the Ebensburg State Police Barracks will speak at the January 30th Township Supervisors Meeting at the Jackson Township Municipal Building. The meeting begins at 7:00. Sargeant Bock will be available to answer any questions citizens attending the meeting may have.
