SPRING CLEAN UP SET FOR 2003
Spring Clean-Up has been scheduled for May 5th thru 9th, 2003. Pick up will be on your regular collection day. As in the past, you will be allowed one large item. Items that will not be picked up are yard waste, branches, construction materials, refrigerators, air conditioners, batteries, car parts, old paint, hazardous material, freezers and tires. Refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners can be picked up ONLY after the Freon is properly removed. Certification of Freon removal is required. Township residents wishing to haul their own refuse to the landfill may do so with a FREE permit issued at the Township Office only during the week of Spring Clean-Up. To insure the continuation of Spring Clean-Up, regular weekly garbage should be in regular Township garbage bags. The Spring Clean-Up is is a great service and is of no extra cost to you.
MAGAZINE RECYCLING SET FOR MARCH 7th thru 9th

This service is offered twice during the year and many Township residents take advantage of it. Be sure to collect all your old magazines and catalogs and bring them out to be recycled during the 7th thru 9th of March. CDBG MONIES HELP IN DEVELOPMENT OF TOWNSHIP
Community Development Block Grants have played a vital role in the development of Jackson Township. They continue to do so today as there are many qualifying projects that would enhance Jackson Township's future and potential. Mr. Larry Custer, Executive Director of the Cambria County Redevelopment Authority will be at the Supervisors February 27th Meeting to discuss this years grant. Last year the Supervisors designated that their grant of $123,720 be put towards establishing water lines to provide water to 22 families along Wagner & Pintail Roads. This year's grant will also go towards that same project and additional monies from the Block Grant Program will be applied for so the project can become a reality as soon as possible.
Some of the other projects funded completely or partially by CDBG monies were:
1984-1987 - Storm Drainage System in Vinco
1986 (along with other grants) - Develop Tennis Court, Basketball Court, Softball Field, Bleachers & Amenities at Mitchell Park in Vinco.
1988-89 - Construct Wastewater Collection Line to serve 14 families in Village of Lorraine.
1990, 1993-2000 - Develop Jackson Township Senior & Handicapped Center
1991 - Extension of Wastewater Collection Line to serve 11 families along White Street.
1992 - Construction of Waterline to six families in Mundys Corner.
1997-2000 - Rehabilitated 11 homes owned by low to moderate income persons with special needs throughout the Township. Also several properties within the Township were cleared of vacant dilapidated structures.
2001 - Construction of Public Waterline from Pike Road to Solar Street to serve 8 families.
As you can see, the Community Block Grants have done alot of good things within Jackson Township and we can look forward to more worthwhile qualifying projects in the future.
