MARCH SUPERVISORS MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
Here are some of the highlights from The Board of Supervisors meeting held on March 27, 2003 at the Jackson Township Senior Center:

The Supervisors approved an Installation & Maintenance Agreement for a Small Flow Treatment Facility to be built near the proposed Conectiv Power Plant Project. The proposed 600 million dollar gas fired power plant is moving forward as Conectiv continues to get the necessary permits required before any construction can begin.

The Board found the lease of the Chickaree Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club at Mitchell Park to be valid based on the fact that their purpose is primarily for recreation and that they act as a Rescue
Squad. The lease was questioned at the February meeting.

Luther P. Miller was awarded the bid for Heating Oil, Unleaded Gas and Diesel Fuel for the upcoming year.

Debra Nagel was appointed to the Jackson Township Planning Commission to fulfill the unexpired term of David Cobaugh through 2005.

Supervisor Bruce Baker made a motion to have the Planning Commission do a study to have streetlights installed at "key" intersections to improve safety within the Township.

SNOWMOBILE & RESCUE CLUB HELPING TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS
Donald Leckey, President of the Snowmobile & Rescue Club spoke at the March 28th Board of Supervisors Meeting.  He said the club has been in existence for 31 years and is the oldest snowmobile club in Pennsylvania with about 109 members. Mr. Leckey elaborated on some of the past rescue missions the club has participated in which included taking food to families who were snowed-in, providing transporation to the fire company to reach several heart attack victims, providing transporation to a local radio station to reach their transmission tower, helping with search and rescue when an airplane crashed on Laurel Mountain, sponsoring snowmobile related events with the proceeds going towards charities. He went on to say that during the past year, they have helped by contributing towards the cost of a liver transplant needed for a resident of Mundys Corner. He also stated that they were currently raising money for another Mundy's Corner man to help with expenses related to his heart problems. In addition, the Club participates in the Adopt-A-Highway program by helping keep a two mile section of Route 22 clean in Jackson Township.
