JACKSON TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL BUILDING IS DROP OFF CENTER FOR
HURRICANE KATRINA EMERGENCY RELIEF SUPPLIES
Jackson Township is participating in the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort as a drop off center for supplies which will be delivered to the Salvation Army in Biloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana in early October. The group of 5 churches and 2 municipalities have joined together to spearhead an effort to assist the victims of Katrina. Paulette Baker, Jackson Township Tax Collector is coordinating the effort of Jackson Township.
Items needed include:
Bleach / Ammonia
Bottled Water / Soda / Sports Drinks
Baby Items (Formula, Baby Food, Diapers, Wipes)
First Aid Kits
Tylenol Products (Infants / Childrens / Adult)
Personal Hygiene Products (Bar Soap, Shampoo, Deodorant, and Toothbrushes, Toothpaste)
T-Shirts (All sizes - new in package)
Coloring Books & Crayons
Canned Goods (Soups, Stews, Vegetables, Pasta)
Any items you wish to donate can be dropped off at the Jackson Township Municipal Building located at 513 Pike Road, Johnstown, PA 15909 (Mundys Corner). Hours of collection are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from Monday through Friday. Items will be collected through September 30, 2005. According to Paulette Baker, Mayflower has donated three trucks and gas to make the trip to the affected area. Many local residents have already dropped off items which will be collected daily. Barry Cooper of Cooper Signs in Vinco donated a sign to designate the drop off center in front of the Municipal Building.
