PLANNING COMMISSION
  MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 17,  2006

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the Jackson Township Planning Commission meeting was called to order by Chairman Al Gailey on April 17, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. All members were present.

Public Comments
There were no public comments.

Minutes
Bruce Baker made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 20, 2006 meeting and Laird Rager seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed.

Correspondence
Bruce Baker passed out a copy of the course on community planning.

Bruce Baker passed out a sheet explaining that a PSATS discussion group has been set up for planning commission members and said anyone who was interested could sign up for the discussion group.

A course in Community Planning being held at the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office was passed out and Paul Wrywas expressed an interest in attending. Connie Fetzer will follow up with reservations.

New Business
The site plan of Harold Sell was reviewed. Bruce Baker made a motion to approve the site plan and the motion was seconded by Laird Rager. Don Knopsnyder stated that he disagreed with the solicitorís opinion and he felt that this qualifies as multifamily and that the setback on the rear should be 35' instead of only 18'. Al Gailey commented that if the future the property owner wanted to subdivide the property, it would present a problem. Al, Paul, Laird and Bruce voted in favor with Don Knopsnyder voting against approval. Motion passed.

The subdivision of William and Helen Cook was reviewed. All in favor. Motion passed.

Due to the resignation of the Chairman Deb Nagle, Don Knopsnyder made a motion to add election of officers to the agenda. Bruce Baker seconded the motion. Don Knopsnyder nominated Al Gailey for Chairman, Bruce Baker seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed. Don Knopsnyder nominated Laird Rager as Vice Chairman. Laird declined. Al Gailey nominated Don Knopsnyder as Vice Chairman and Paul Wyrwas as secretary and Bruce Baker seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed.

Old Business
Dick Sutter and Associates reviewed the progress on the Comprehensive Plan. A public hearing will be held on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. with the regular meeting to follow.

Don Knopsnyder made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 p.m. Bruce Baker seconded the motion. All in favor.
