Rev. Darryl "Doc" Dawson

Doc Dawson has
been working at New Day Inc. since 1981. He started in the
main office in Johnstown, where he was active in the
Discipleship Growth Group & Community Outreach Programs.
He also served as Camp Director for 16 years. He started
and developed the Summer Camp Programs, the Covenant Home
Programs and the Parent Education and Foster Care Programs, and
eventually he transferred to the Altoona, New Day Office.
Presently, Doc leads groups of Parent Education Classes, and
Conflict Resolution & Communication Training. |
Doc is also involved in a new
nationwide program called Parent Project, and a local parent project
called Creative Parenting Skills. Doc also works with
Operation Daybreak, (a Christian Big Brother / Sister program)
Mentoring Program. He also has done some prison ministry and
some chaplaincy programs throughout the community. Doc is the
Branch Director of the Altoona New Day. He is well known as a
speaker and teacher for numerous churches and civic organizations.
Doc is an ordained minister and presently, Pastoring the Canan
Station Mennonite Church. Doc is founder of the Chalybeate Springs
Ministry, an "Aftercare" ministry, where he and his wife Sandy
reside. In the past, he and Sandy have adopted three special
needs siblings and have parented about 157 children through the
Foster and Adoption Care Programs.
