Jackson Township
Litter Clean-Up Programs
Adopt-A-Highway
Program (PennDOT)
Jackson Township in cooperation with
PennDOT encourages local groups and organizations to
participate in the Adopt-A-Highway Program to help keep
our roads clean of litter and garbage. The program
requires an organization to do two clean-ups a
year. PennDOT provides bags, gloves and necessary
safety signs. Most adopted highway segments are in
2 mile increments. If your organization is
interested in adopting a section of road within Jackson
Township, please contact PennDOT coordinator, Don
Godish at 472-7100, Ext. 211 or contact the
Township Office at 749-0725 or via email
at roads@jacksontwppa.com
Qualifying State Highways for the Adopt-A-Highway Program are Dishong
Mountain Road, Benshoff Hill Road, Chickaree Hill Road, Plank Road,
Swigle Mountain Road, US Route 22 and US Route 271.
Jackson Township and
PennDOT would like to thank the following organizations
who currently participate in the Adopt-A-Highway
Program. Through their hard work and community
pride, these adopted sections of road stay a whole lot
cleaner to help make Jackson Township a community we can
all be proud to live in.

Adopt-A-Township Highway Program
Jackson Township
now has an Adopt-A-Township Highway Program for Township roads and
streets. This is a great opportunity for organizations, churches
or groups of friends, family and neighbors to adopt a street. By
adopting a street or road in your neighborhood your group will be
recognized with signs on each end of the adopted area. What is
expected is at least two litter clean-ups per year. Jackson
Township will provide garbage bags, gloves, safety vests, etc. If
you are interested in adopting a street or road in your neighborhood or
anywhere within Jackson Township, just contact the Jackson Township
Office at 749-0725.

Pennsylvania Cleanways Program
Another program available is the
Pennsylvania Cleanways Program. PA CleanWays has helped
people and their communities clean up mountains of trash
from PA lands and waters. To address littered roadways and other
public areas, PA CleanWays has a local road, stream, and
area adoption program that complements the state's
Adopt-A-Highway program. For additional information go to
the
PA Cleanways Website.
